Conventional bathroom cleaners are some of the harshest products in the home — loaded with chlorine, ammonia, and synthetic fragrances that linger in one of the smallest, least-ventilated rooms you spend time in.

We built this formula for regular bathroom maintenance: soap scum, everyday grime, and light mineral deposits, using citric acid as a natural descaler and plant-based surfactants — no harsh fumes, no petrochemicals, no breath-holding required.

How It Works (The Science, Simplified)

Bathroom surfaces face two distinct cleaning challenges: soap scum (fatty residue from soap and body oils) and mineral deposits (calcium and magnesium left behind by hard water). Most conventional cleaners throw bleach or ammonia at both problems. We use targeted chemistry instead.

  • Citric acid — a naturally derived acid from bio-fermentation — lowers the pH at the surface, dissolving the calcium and magnesium bonds that hold mineral deposits together
  • Plant-based surfactant (caprylyl glucoside) lifts soap scum and body oil residue away from tile, fixtures, and shower surfaces
  • Corn-derived ethanol aids evaporation and provides additional antimicrobial support
The result: clean bathroom surfaces without chlorine fumes, synthetic fragrances, or the respiratory irritation that comes with both.

Spray. Wait. Wipe.

This formula works best with a short dwell time. Let the citric acid do its job before wiping.

  1. Spray onto the surface.
  2. Wait 30-60 seconds (longer for areas with visible mineral buildup)
  3. Wipe clean with a cloth or sponge

Important Note:

Not safe for marble or natural stone surfaces. The acidic formula can etch these materials. Test an inconspicuous areas first on any unfamiliar surface.

Where to Use

Shower & Tub

Walls, doors, bathtub surfaces, tiles and grout.

Fixtures & Fittings

Faucets, showerheads, chrome fixtures, sink basins.

Countertops & Surfaces

Bathroom countertops, toilet exteriors, cabinet fronts.

Reminder: Not safe for marble, travertine, or natural stone. The citric acid can etch acid-sensitive surfaces. If unsure, test a small hidden area first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to use in an enclosed bathroom with no window?

Yes. We avoid toxic ingredients like ammonia and chlorine to prioritize family safety.

As with all spray products, we recommend ensuring good air flow while cleaning. Open a window or door if you are working in a small bathroom or enclosed space.

Does this disinfect?

No. Cleaning and disinfecting are two separate steps.

Cleaning removes grease, mineral deposits, and organic matter that bacteria feed on, which is sufficient for everyday household maintenance.

If disinfecting is needed (such as after illness), use an EPA-registered disinfectant according to its dwell time instructions. We are fans of hypochlorous acid for targeted disinfecting when necessary.

Will this remove heavy limescale buildup?

Yes, though if the limescale took a long time to build up, expect a few passes rather than one.

Saturate the surface with the cleaner and allow 30-60 seconds of dwell time for the citric acid to break down the mineral bonds. Then scrub with an abrasive tool, a bristled brush works best. Repeat until the limescale is completely removed.

Is it safe for all bathroom surfaces?

This cleaner is safe for the majority of bathroom surfaces including tile, grout, fiberglass, porcelain, chrome fixtures, and sealed stone. However, because the formula is acidic, it is not safe for marble, travertine, or other natural stone surfaces. Citric acid can etch and dull these materials permanently.

If you're unsure about a surface, test a small inconspicuous area first before applying broadly.

How long should I wait before wiping dry?

For everyday cleaning and soap scum, we recommend a dwell time of 15-30 seconds. This is enough time to spray the fixtures, tub, and toilet before returning to wipe each of them dry.

For heavy buildup of soap scum or limescale, we recommend a dwell time of 30-60 seconds.

How is it different from Scrubbing Bubbles or Lysol Bathroom Cleaner?

Scrubbing Bubbles and Lysol bathroom cleaners rely on chlorine compounds, ammonia, and synthetic fragrances to power performance. In a small, enclosed bathroom (often with minimal ventilation) those fumes concentrate quickly and linger long after you've finished cleaning.

Our formula delivers powerful soap scum and mineral deposit removal using citric acid and plant-based surfactants. No chlorine. No ammonia. No breath-holding in the shower stall.
